When Asked to Slap a Girl, Young Boys Give Powerful Response
At a time when examples of violence against women are around every corner, one Italian media company conducted a moving social experiment demonstrating that violence along with pacifism are behaviors that can be taught at a young age. The video is, of course, designed to make waves on the Internet, and judging from our Facebook feeds, it already is.

The project begins with seven to 11-year-olds being asked standard questions, like what their names are and what they want to be when they grow up. They then get introduced to Martina, with whom the boys quickly become smitten. They give her compliments, and one of them even adorably says, "I want to be your boyfriend."
The person behind the camera then asks them to "caress" her. Although slightly embarrassed, they gently touch her. They're then instructed to make a funny face, which causes Martina to laugh too. Quickly after, they're told to "slap her, hard!" Their reactions are nothing short of incredible.

One sternly shakes his head in refusal while another says, "I'm not going to do it." When asked why they declined, their responses are even more powerful. "Jesus doesn't want us to hit others," one says. Another boy provided a saying as his reason: "Girls shouldn't be hit, not even with a flower."
