How To Own A Classic Designer Piece – Without Paying Over £300

We don’t know about you, but we have a list as long as our arm of the designer buys that make our jaws drop. The ones we’d absolutely love to invest in, but can’t justify spending money on. In short, it’s a list of classics that would lift any outfit.

The downside to this list is that absolutely every item on it is way out of our price range. From the Chanel bag that we could pass down to our grandchildren to the classic Valentino shoes that would work with any outfit, they’re all beautiful – but all far too expensive.

Which is where we step in. Years of working in the fashion industry have shown us that there are ways to own a piece by our favourite designers without breaking the bank. And it’s so simple! You take the little extras that the designers are known for – the quirky Anya Hindmarch styles, the studded Valentinos – and you can’t get them at a snippet of the price, if you know how…

Valentino at Liberty, £195

The Valentino ‘Rockstud’ design comes in many options (shoes, bags to name a few), and is one of the most instantly-recognisable designer styles. You may not want to stretch to the shoes or a bag, but a gorgeous coin purse and card holder will still do the trick!

Espadrilles are a summer favourite. Pick up this Dolce & Gabbana lace style and you’ll walk tall for years to come.

Miu Miu at David Clulow, £240

We’d love a pair of Mui Mui heels, but their sunglasses are just as feminine and quirky – and far less expensive! Oversized frames, cat eye styles and sprinklings of sparkle make them some of the most eye-catching styles we’ve seen.

Marc by Marc Jacobs at Very Exclusive, £175

A clever way to pick up a designer buy for less is by looking to their scarves. This Marc by Marc Jacobs one will update any outfit, and adds some colour to a dull day.

Karl Lagerfeld at Very Exclusive, £240

A Chanel bag is one of the most coveted designer buys ever, but the sky-high prices can be eye-watering. If you want in on the action but can’t stretch to around £2,000, then opt for one from Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld’s collection instead. We love this envelope style, and pink makes for a refreshing change from black.

Sophie Hulme, £150

Sometimes all it takes to get people looking twice is a quirky keyring. Snap up this Sophie Hulme one, and you’ll own a piece of designer goodness without the crazy price tag.

Anya’s quirky accessories have become something of a cult mut-have in recent years, but you don’t have to spend £500 and over just to get a piece of the designer. This pouch is around a third less than many of her other buys, and the on-trend metallic piece is bound to become one of the best talking points you own.

Who doesn’t covet a sumptuous Mulberry bag? But with price tags often upwards of £800, they’re an extravagance many of us can’t afford. Step forward this pouch, which we’ll be using as a clutch. The perfect way to get a slice of the designer without breaking the bank completely.

Calvin Klein, £245

Calvin Klein is having something of a resurgence at the moment, thanks to a stream of Instagram stars snapping pictures in their Calvins. But if you don’t wish to show off your underwear (and chances are you don’t), you can get in on the action with this simple watch. Buy it now and wear for years to come.
